Bikini-Line Hair: Removal Options
Dear eDiets:
I am once again faced with worry about bikini-line hair removal. Shaving is out of the question (I get a red, prickly rash) and waxing regularly is too expensive.
Are there any other options?
I was faced with the same worry at one time, because my sensitive skin would not tolerate bikini-line shaving or waxing (as a matter of fact, the waxing sometimes seemed worse).
I had read about a product called Emjoi Gently Gold Caress ($79.95, www.emjoi.com, 888-99-EMJOI), which offered a completely different option for hair removal, so I decided to give it a go. As it turns out, it was just the answer I was looking for, and now I recommend it to everyone.
The Gently Gold Caress is a rechargeable, cordless apparatus that resembles an electric razor -- although that's about as much as it has it common with a razor, since the Caress removes hair at the actual root. It features 36 gold-plated rotating tweezer disks that quickly pull out hair (even tiny stubble) in an ongoing motion. It does leave very small red bumps, which are actually the swollen hair follicles. But they disappear in a few hours, and are nothing even near to what I've experienced from shaving or waxing, since the latter both cause additional skin irritation.
Does it hurt? Well, I would say it's much less painful than waxing, but it does sting, since you are literally getting the hair pulled out. For me, though, the benefits (less expensive than regular waxing in the long run, much less reddening, and approximately three weeks of hair-free skin) outweigh the discomfort. I find that after about five minutes of using it, the stinging seems to become less noticeable (however, we all have different tolerances to pain)... Personally, when it comes to wearing a swimsuit, I find my Caress an invaluable necessity. Plus, if I compared the money spent on a Caress, versus the money spent on regular waxing appointments, I've definitely earned myself a few new swimsuits by now. I have been using the Emjoi Gold Caress for three months now and am TOTALLY pleased with it! It really does pull out hairs one day after shaving! The hairs on my legs when I first started using it were dark and coarse, and it hurt when I first started using the Emjoi. I recently purchased a gently gold caress.and i am so excited about it i had to write.I could not believe how quickly and painlessly it removes hair. Thank you for offering such a great product (Gently Gold Caress). A friend of mine had been using this product while I was going to the spa to be waxed. I eventually talked her into going to the spa and get waxed. She did and begged me to order the Gently Gold Caress. She explained the pain is much less and she experienced the hair returning much faster with waxing. I was shocked. I decided to order the product (since it was less than one spa treatment). I have used the Genlty Gold Caress on my entire leg, bikini area, and underarms.
The results are wonderful! I still enjoy going to the spa. However, now I go for other pampering treatments. I am so excited about your product, I have just ordered your Beauty Forever and the Brushrite. I can't wait to receive those, I'm sure I will be just as pleased. A customer forever.
